Every three months whether I need it or not
I wasn't entirely sure I could find my blog, but somehow, here it is. So far, I haven't sent it out to the world to receive the hard knocks I'm sure it deserves; it's just for my personal satisfaction and edification. A journal, perhaps. I suspect that chronic bloggers have to self-edit considerably due to the public nature of the blog; my journal entries, when I come upon them months or years later, always surprise me with their intimacy and pain. The good news is, I'm really not feeling the pain today, so it's a great time to blog, publicly or otherwise.

First Blog: Procrastination
Isn't it amazing how unpleasant tasks can be avoided almost indefinitely when the mind flits to all the other possible projects? Today is my day, nay, MY DAY, to do my taxes. I have set aside the entire day, despite the beautiful weather, despite my new bike crying out to repeat last Sunday's gorgeous ride. No, I am doing my taxes, by golly.
So of course, instead of doing my taxes: I cleaned my floors; I scrubbed my walls; I washed out my garbage can; and I've started a blog. Welcome to Procrastination 101, Sports Fans. As I tried to think of a name for this blog, I asked myself, "Who am I?" A singer, an actor, an editor, a lawyer, a mom, a friend, a resident of Capitol Hill. All of those roles and traits had their moment in the sun as potential names. I almost called it "I found my thrill on Capitol Hill." But...I didn't, and it's lame. However, the one characteristic that truly defines me is procrastination. And I just couldn't name my blog "Procrastinatin' Deborah. But my first entry gets the nod.
